As Slovenia prepares to assume the EU Presidency, Rok Klancnik of the Slovinian Tourist Office will talk about the country's new brand strategy, values, and symbols and how the country is preparing to rise to the challenge of leading the EU in 2008.

Topics will include:

-Branding a country: An interesting idea, an obsession, a fad, or a must? Or all of the above?

-How do new and small countries do it?

-Slovenia's image problem: not a bad image, but sometimes none at all

-Solutions employed in the past

Speaker bio: Rok Klancnik recently moved from Madrid to Brussels and now runs the Slovenian Tourist Office for Benelux and France. Previously, he served as Director of Communications for the United Nations-affiliated World Tourism Organization and was Communications Director for the Slovenian Tourist Board in Ljubljana. A frequent traveler, Rok speaks several languages and gives lectures on topics ranging from strategic communications and branding to tourism and the Argentine tango.
